We all know the state of music industry but calling on the ISP’s to regulate control of what people are downloading on their networks is not the answer.

A new report from the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), the music industry’s global trade organization claims the continued decline in music sales has reached a breaking point.

The report focuses on music piracy, noting that “tens of billions” of songs were illegally downloaded in 2007, and that the ratio of unlicensed tracks downloaded to legal tracks sold was about 20 to 1.

The IFPI is calling on federal governments to intervene to force Internet service providers (ISPs) to help stamp out music piracy occurring on their networks.
